Does removing the left sock after ablution, then putting it back on, invalidate the duration of wiping over the socks?

If you remove the sock and then put it back on while you are still in a state of ritual purity (wudu') before the wiping period begins, then there is no problem, and the wiping period starts from the time of the impurity (hadath) after putting it on, or from the time of wiping after the impurity. However, if you remove it after wiping over it, then it is not permissible to wipe over it again after putting it on, unless you perform a complete ablution (wudu') and put it on while in a state of purity. Regarding the invalidation of the previous purity due to removing the khuff (leather sock), the preponderant opinion is that it is not invalidated. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that if the khuff has been wiped over, it should not be wiped over again except after performing ablution. The rule is that if the khuff is removed after wiping over it, it should not be wiped over again, because it was worn upon a purity that was attained through wiping.
