Childbirth necessitates the exposure of a woman's awrah (private parts), which is impermissible before non-mahram men unless there is a necessity. This necessity is met under two conditions: a genuine need for the procedure, and the unavailability of a skilled female doctor. If a woman is surprised by a male doctor and did not request him, she must refuse and ask for a female doctor. If that is not possible, then there is no sin upon her. However, if a female doctor was available and she failed to request her, then she must repent and seek forgiveness.
