If the husband says to his wife, "Leave your job and stay home, otherwise you are divorced by three," this is a conditional divorce.
The preponderant opinion in this matter is that it refers back to the intention of the speaker. If he intended to prevent her from going to work and did not intend divorce, then he must pay expiation for an oath (kaffarat ) if she goes to work, and no divorce occurs. If he intended the divorce to occur, then one revocable divorce takes place if she goes to work.
