Is a wife considered irrevocably divorced (three pronouncements) if her husband tells her, "If you ever say 'Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best disposer of affairs concerning you' again, then you are divorced," and she then repeats the statement several times while he hears her?

The authoritative fatwa is that the wife is divorced with one pronouncement, as long as the husband did not intend to repeat the divorce by the wife's repeated utterance of the aforementioned phrase. If this pronouncement does not complete the three divorces, then the husband may take his wife back during her iddah (waiting period).

Some scholars hold the view that if the husband did not intend to make the divorce conditional, but rather intended to threaten and prevent, then he owes an expiation for a broken oath and no divorce occurs.
