Is it permissible to curse Satan, and did Ibn Uthaymeen issue a fatwa to that effect?

It is permissible to curse Satan, according to the more preponderant opinion, but this should not become a habit. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, was of the opinion that it is not permissible to curse him, because he becomes arrogant by it, and one should seek refuge from him instead of cursing him. He based this on the Prophet's ﷺ hadith: "I curse you with the curse of Allah" during prayer, mentioning that it is either an exception or abrogated. He also clarified that what was narrated from Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah's saying "may Allah curse him" might be in the sense of reporting, not supplicating.
