Whoever says, "If I do such and such, then I must fast for a month," then the view of the majority of scholars is that this is an oath of obstinacy and anger, and an expiation for breaking an oath suffices for it, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "The expiation for a vow is the expiation for an oath."
