Is using an alarm to wake up for Fajr prayer better, or is it obligatory for those who are able to do so?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Many scholars hold the view that it is obligatory to use an alarm if one knows that their sleep will consume all the time unless someone wakes them, because that without which an obligation cannot be fulfilled is itself obligatory. Therefore, a Muslim should take the necessary measures to help them wake up, such as setting an alarm or asking someone who wakes up early to wake them. Others, however, hold that this is not obligatory.
