We did not find any mention of Abd al-Rahman ibn Bakra in the historical and biographical books we consulted. It is possible that the intended person is Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakra al-Thaqafi, whose kunya was Abu Bahr. He was born after the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and was the first child born in Basra after its establishment as a city. He narrated from his father, Ali, and Abdullah ibn Amr, and his nephew Thabit ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Bakra, Ibn Sirin, and Qatada narrated from him. Al-Ijli described him as a trustworthy Basri Tabi'i, and he died in the year ninety-six.
