The husband's money is his property, and nothing from it is permissible for the wife except what the Sharia has permitted, such as maintenance provided equitably. If he withholds it, it is permissible for her to take what is sufficient for her and her child, based on the hadith of Hind bint Utbah.

However, anything in excess of her needs, or taken without his knowledge and not permitted by Sharia, is unlawful. The obligation is to repent and return the excess amount or seek the husband's forgiveness.

The wife's maintenance is determined by sufficiency and custom. Whatever the wife borrows from her mother remains a debt upon her.
