What is the ruling on delaying the Dhuhr prayer for two hours after the Adhan due to not having time to pray at school or during private lessons?
Delaying prayer beyond its prescribed time is a major sin, as Allah the Almighty says: "So woe to those who pray, [But] who are heedless of their prayer" (Al-Ma'un 107:4-5), and His saying: "Then succeeded them a generation who neglected prayers and followed lusts; so they will meet Ghayy" (Maryam 19:59).
Those in charge of the school must enable students to perform prayers on time, and students can request a break to perform the prayer. If attempts are unsuccessful, there is no harm in praying immediately upon returning home, as long as it is before the time for the Asr prayer begins. As for private lessons, it is permissible to pray immediately after leaving the class upon hearing the Adhan.
