What is the ruling regarding a husband who repeatedly requests divorce by mutual consent without a compelling reason, and insults his wife in front of his family, even though she does not want a divorce, maintains her home, is religious, and fulfills his demands, while he rejects her and engages in illicit relationships?

Insulting and humiliating a Muslim is forbidden and a major sin. The sin is even greater if the insult is directed at one's wife, as Islam commanded that she be honored and treated with kindness. Islamic jurists have permitted a wife to seek divorce due to her husband's abuse and insults, and they have emphasized the need to discipline an abusive husband. Nevertheless, divorce should not be resorted to unless cohabitation becomes impossible. The wife is advised to be patient, attempt reconciliation, explain the حرمة (prohibition) of insults to her husband through prayer, and seek help from righteous people.
