Is the one-sixth of the inheritance allocated to the deceased mother distributed among the man's brothers and his children, or does it go back to his children only?

The deceased mother's share of her son's inheritance is taken by her heirs. Her male children exclude their deceased brother's children who died before their mother, by an exclusion of deprivation. The children of the son inherit nothing if there is a direct son. The matter of inheritances is serious and complex; a mere fatwa (definition) is insufficient. Rather, it must be referred to the Sharia (definition) courts for investigation, as there might be an heir who is not known except after research, or there might be bequests, debts, or other rights that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
