What is the ruling on one who swore by divorce to quit playing, then returned to it after a few days?

If the husband swears an oath of divorce not to continue playing, and then stops and leaves the game, he does not break his oath if he plays again. However, if he intended by his oath to abandon playing completely, then he breaks his oath by playing at any time. This is the view of the majority of scholars and what is issued in fatwas.

In the event of a divorce, the husband can take his wife back if he had not divorced her previously, or if he had divorced her only once. However, if he had divorced her twice before, she becomes unlawful for him and does not become permissible for him again until she marries another husband in a valid marriage and he then divorces her after consummation.

Some scholars, such as Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, consider that only an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required.

And if the anger at the time of uttering the divorce was so severe that the husband did not comprehend what he was saying, then there is no consequence for him, as accountability is lifted in such a state.

In the future, one must be cautious about swearing by divorce and avoid the causes of anger.
