To what extent is the hadith "Love of the world is the head of every sin" authentic?

The hadith "Love of the world is the head of every sin" is weak, and some have even attributed it to fabrication. Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in Shu'ab al-Iman with a good chain of transmission from Al-Hasan Al-Basri as a mursal report, and it has also been attributed to Jesus son of Mary, Malik ibn Dinar, and Jundub al-Bajali.
