Do the morning and evening adhkar protect a believer from illnesses?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Morning and evening remembrances (adhkar) and other forms of dhikr are a means of protecting a person from diseases and a fortress against Satan, sorcerers, and the envious. A believer may still be afflicted with illness despite observing these remembrances, either to elevate their ranks and expiate their sins, or due to a lack of certainty and presence of heart during dhikr. The affliction that befalls one who fortifies themselves with adhkar is lighter than if they had not done so, because the ahadith negate harm (ḍarar), not annoyance or slight inconvenience (adhā), and adhā is less severe than ḍarar.
