What is the ruling of Islamic law and what is the advice concerning a father's refusal to marry his daughter to a young man who possesses good religious character and morals, and whom the daughter accepts, simply because of the difference in social status between the two families?

If a mature woman approves of a suitable match, her guardian does not have the right to prevent her marriage without a legitimate Islamic reason. If the closest guardian withholds his consent (adhal), the guardianship transfers to the next closest relative or to the ruler (Sultan). If a mature woman chooses a suitable match and her guardian chooses someone else, her choice takes precedence. It is advisable to try to convince the father or seek mediation from relatives.
