Does divorce by way of ibra’ mean relinquishing the mahr and shabaka?

Divorce by exculpation (Ibra') is when a woman offers compensation to her husband in exchange for her divorce, such as waiving her financial rights. The majority of scholars hold that exculpation only waives the compensation agreed upon between the spouses, such as the deferred Mahr (dowry) or some debts owed to the wife. So, if you both agreed to waive both the Mahr and the jewelry, they are both waived. If you agreed to waive only the Mahr, it is waived, and you may demand the jewelry if it is still a debt owed by your husband, unless it was part of the Mahr.
