"Placing the right hand over the left when standing in prayer (al-qabd) has been mentioned in many hadiths, including: what Muslim narrated from Wa'il ibn Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "place his right hand over his left." And the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Bukhari: "People were commanded to place a man's right hand over his left forearm in prayer." And in Sunan Abi Dawud, from Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that he said: "Placing hand over hand is from the Sunnah." And the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and placed his right hand over his left."
