It appears that Al-Aziz found his wife holding Joseph at the door, and she accused him of having ill intentions towards her. She had torn his shirt from the back when they tried to exit through the door. When Al-Aziz saw this, she accused him of what she desired. Al-Aziz's wife insisted on imprisoning him until people's talk ceased, and this was granted to her.
