What is the punishment for a married woman who has committed adultery, how should she be dealt with, how should she be advised, and what is the way to deal with her after she has announced her repentance?

The crime of zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) is established by one of two matters:

1. Confession: It is stipulated that the accountable perpetrator of zina must confess to the crime four times, whether in a single session or multiple sessions. He must explicitly state the reality of the intercourse without ambiguity, and he must not retract his confession until the hadd (prescribed punishment) is carried out. 2. Witness Testimony: It is established by the testimony of four upright Muslim men whose testimony is acceptable. They must testify in a single session to a single act of zina, and they must clearly describe the manner of intercourse.

If the crime of zina is not established by one of these two matters, then it is not permissible to accuse the woman of zina. Instead, she should be advised and reminded of Allah, the punishment for zina in this world and the hereafter, and the conditions for repentance should be explained to her. If she repents, it is not permissible to ostracize her or treat her poorly.
