Is foreseeing evil or having a premonition of bad things to come a matter of destiny or a whisper from Satan?

Pessimism about evil without a concrete reason is considered a form of forbidden ill omen (ṭīra) due to entertaining ill thoughts about Allah and expecting tribulation. In contrast, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was pleased with good omens and disliked ill omens. The fundamental principle for a Muslim is to be optimistic about good and to hope for Allah's grace. For whoever cuts off their hope and expectation from Allah, it will be worse for them, as happened with the Bedouin who was pessimistic about his illness and died. The cure lies in sincere reliance on Allah (tawakkul) and having good thoughts about Him, for reliance dispels the ill omens that might cross one's mind.
