Is ablution (wudu') required when in doubt about the type of meat consumed, whether it is lamb or camel meat?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Eating camel meat invalidates ablution according to the Hanbalis, and this is the most preponderant opinion due to the strength of its evidence. If a person doubts whether what he ate was camel meat or sheep meat, his purity is not invalidated, because certainty is not removed by doubt, and the original state is the continuation of purity. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about a man who imagined that he felt something during prayer, and he said: "He should not leave until he hears a sound or perceives a smell."
