Is ignoring Allah's watchful eye when committing a sin, or persisting in sin due to lust, whims, or weakness, considered arrogance that leads to disbelief, or is it classified as wickedness?
Transgression (fisq) is the commission of a major sin or persistence in a minor sin. A Muslim does not exit the fold of Islam merely by committing a sin, whether minor or major, as long as he believes in the impermissibility of what he has done. Considering the commission of sins as an act of disbelief (takfir) is the doctrine of the Kharijites, whereas the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah (Sunnis) do not declare a Muslim an infidel due to a sin unless he deems it permissible.
