What is the ruling on marrying from an orphanage, and what are the essential conditions for it?

Marriage usually does not occur until after a girl reaches puberty. A girl who has reached puberty is no longer an orphan, as orphanhood does not extend beyond puberty. Whoever marries a girl who suffered orphanhood in her childhood, with the intention of helping, protecting, and compensating her, will be rewarded for his good intention. This act is one of the great deeds of proximity by which one draws closer to Allah. An orphan girl, like any other woman, must have her marriage contract officiated by her guardian. If she has no guardian, then the legitimate ruler is her guardian.
