Is it considered disobedience to dislike praise and excessive in-person prayers (du'a), and to request that from one's mother, as well as raising one's voice at parents due to their provocation or ignorance on certain matters, especially given that irritability and raising one's voice are characteristic of the family?

A mother's request not to praise her son in front of him and to supplicate for him in his absence is not an act of disobedience if it is done with politeness and gentleness. However, raising one's voice at parents is not permissible. One must address them with respect and reverence, speaking to them with kind and gentle words. It is not permissible to harm them, even if one of them errs or commits a wrongdoing. Rather, they should be advised gently and politely, without excessive reprimand or harshness, for parents are not like strangers in this regard. One must repent to Allah, strive to control oneself, cultivate good character, especially with parents, and beware of anger, for it is the root of all evil. Good manners are acquired through habituation and practice.
