Is the testimony of a person known for his bad character, and between whom and the accused there is severe animosity and discord, acceptable in an accusation related to apostasy or a forbidden act that necessitates a prescribed punishment (Hadd)?

This person should fear God and conceal his companion's fault. He should neither testify against him nor sue him, because what occurred was an unintentional mistake, and a Muslim is not held accountable for mistakes, as stated in the Almighty's قول: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [only for] what your hearts intended." Allah has overlooked mistakes and forgetfulness, and because repentance erases sins. Furthermore, this person is driven to complain by personal enmity, and the testimony of an enemy against his enemy is not accepted, nor does it establish his neighbor's guilt, and because the witness is single and accused. The judge should favor the possibility that acquits the accused: "Avert the prescribed punishments from Muslims as much as you can."
