Is the testimony of the slanderer accepted if he repents and becomes righteous?

Allah Almighty has ordained three punishments for false accusation (qadhf): the prescribed punishment (hadd) of eighty lashes, the non-acceptance of testimony, and being labeled as a transgressor (fasiq). If the accuser repents, the majority of scholars hold that their testimony should be accepted, because repentance obliterates sins, and because the perpetuation of the non-acceptance of testimony is conditioned on the accuser remaining in a state of transgression. This is also reported from Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. His repentance consists of him disclaiming his accusation against the slandered person regarding zina (fornication/adultery).
