What is the Sharia ruling on correcting, from a linguistic perspective, a magazine that contains pictures of immodestly dressed women (not naked), knowing that my work is limited to text proofreading and does not include images, and that this type of picture is found in almost every publication, and they are few in comparison to the information contained in the magazine?
It is a part of the perfection of Islamic that if it prohibits something, it also prohibits the means that lead to it. Thus, the means share the rulings of their ends. This falls under the Almighty’s saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty." Accordingly, it is not permissible for the questioner to work for a magazine where he corrects materials related to art and similar content that is not free from objectionable matters. As for assistance with linguistic verification, there is currently no shortage in this specialization.
