What is the ruling on a man claiming paternity of a son born from fornication, and does such a son become legitimately his? And what is the position of Ibn Taymiyyah and Al-Albani on this matter?

The child of adultery is not affiliated with the adulterer, nor is he attributed to him, nor does he inherit from him. This is the view of the majority of scholars, based on what has been reported: "The child is for the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone." "The child is for the bed" means for the marital relationship, whether through marriage or right of possession. The child of adultery is never affiliated with his claimant according to any of the scholars. However, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah differed on this, saying: "If he claims his child from adultery, and there is no bed, then he is affiliated with him." This is also the view adopted by Al-Hasan, Ibn Sirin, An-Nakha'i, and Ishaq.
