Is a son sinful if he leaves the home of his parents, who lack marital affection, fail to fulfill their duties towards him and the household, and refused his marriage on the pretext of unemployment, knowing that their financial and physical health are good and they do not need his presence?

A mother is not obligated to serve her adult child; rather, it is the child's duty to serve his parents if they are in need. Parents do not have the right to prevent their son from marrying, and he is not obligated to obey them in this matter. A son may live separately from his parents if he does not neglect them, and he must honor them in all circumstances. The mother's right is immense, and disobeying her is a grave sin, while honoring her is a means of attaining Allah's pleasure.
