What is the ruling on absentmindedness in prayer, and what is your advice to one who is absentminded during it?

Absentmindedness in prayer is a natural occurrence; it even happened to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. It is different from being absentminded about prayer, which is blameworthy.

To overcome absentmindedness, a worshipper should approach prayer with a humble heart, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, and lightly spit to their left three times when feeling whispers of doubt. They should also realize that they are conversing with Allah and standing before Him.
