The answer

Islam has absolutely forbidden Riba (usury/interest), based on Quranic verses such as: (O you who have believed, do not consume Riba, doubled and redoubled, and fear Allah that you may succeed) and (and He has forbidden Riba). The interest granted by Riba-based banks is forbidden, and it is not permissible to deposit money in them except in cases of extreme necessity, such as protecting money from theft and loss, with the obligation to withdraw the money immediately once the necessity ceases, as per His, the Almighty's, saying: (And cooperate not in sin and aggression). Therefore, a Muslim must avoid Riba and seek lawful sustenance, for abandoning unlawful money is better than feeding one's children from it, because the one who deals in Riba is at war with Allah and His Messenger, as stated by the Almighty: (And if you do not, then be informed of a war from Allah and His Messenger).
