Is "Abd Manaf" a pre-Islamic name attributed to an idol? Did the Prophet name any of his children by this name? And why is "Abd" added to names other than those of Allah? Is it permissible to be named with it?

"Manāf" was a pre-Islamic idol, and "ʿAbd Manāf" was named after it. Some historians narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had a son named "ʿAbd Manāf" before his prophethood, but this is false and a fabrication against him, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Bukhārī and others refuted the narration that states this. It is not permissible to be named with any name that indicates servitude to other than Allah, such as "ʿAbd Manāf."
