The answer

Performing the final third of the night in prayer is the best and most beloved to Allah; this was the night vigil of David, peace be upon him. It was not narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, prayed the entire night except during the last ten days of Ramadan, nor was this authentically reported from the Companions.

Persevering in praying the entire night is Islamically disliked by many scholars, especially if it harms other acts of worship or the duties of religion and worldly life. However, if no harm results from it, some scholars have permitted it, while others still consider it disliked.
