Is it necessary to inspect the discharge to determine its nature (madhy, mani, or other) when performing istinja', and is ghusl required for odorless yellow discharge?

There is no need to inspect oneself to verify the discharge of secretions. One should avoid falling into obsessive doubts. If a woman is certain that something has exited, she should consider its characteristics to address it Islamically:

- If it is maniyy (seminal fluid), ghusl (ritual bath) is obligatory.

- If it is madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), it must be washed, and the body and clothes purified, followed by wudu' (ablution).

- If it is vaginal discharge (rutubat al-farj), wudu' is sufficient for its purity.

- If she is uncertain about what exited, she may choose and assign it the ruling she wishes.

As for yellowish discharge (sufrah), it is impure (najis) and requires istinja' (washing the private parts). Ghusl is not obligatory unless it is considered menstrual blood.
