A husband can prevent his wife from breastfeeding a child other than their own, unless the nursing infant is in dire need of her milk, such that no one else can breastfeed him, or he refuses to be breastfed by anyone else. However, if a woman is divorced, she does not need the permission of her former husband to breastfeed a child other than her own.
