The answer

The believer is commanded to be pure, as Allah Almighty says: "And your garments purify." It has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the legitimacy of asking Allah for purification from sins and cleansing from them, as stated in his supplication: "O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East and the West. O Allah, cleanse me from sins as a white garment is cleansed from dirt. O Allah, wash away my sins with water, snow, and hail." Accordingly, this supplication is good and there is no harm in it.
