Is it obligatory for the wife to ask for divorce or resort to her family for intervention, in light of her husband’s mistreatment of her with insults, curses, shaming her by her family, his family’s rejection of her, his preventing her from praying, and his performing dangerous acts towards their child such as putting him in the refrigerator or stripping him?

Advise your husband gently that Allah has commanded him to treat you kindly, and that you have rights over him. Do not obey him if he wishes to prevent you from praying or from any religious obligation, for "there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." Seek help from people of virtue to advise him. If he does not respond, seeking a divorce might be better for you due to the harm inflicted upon you.
