Why did the Messenger remain in the tent during battle, and why did he dislike fighting?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was among the bravest of people. He would be present in difficult situations and stand firm in them, and he wished for martyrdom in the way of Allah. His remaining in the tent during the battle was a suggestion from Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, so that it could be a headquarters for his leadership in case of emergencies, with a guard of young Ansar around it.
