How is modesty removed?
Modesty is a trait of faith, and it encourages one to abandon indecency and prevents neglecting the rights of others. Modesty may be removed from a person when they dare to commit vices and oppress others, which leads to the darkening of their heart and an increase in their sins. This is indicated by what was narrated from Salman (may Allah be pleased with him): "If Allah intends evil or destruction for a servant, He removes modesty from him, so you will find him only hateful and detestable. And if that is the case, mercy is withheld from him, so you will find him only treacherous and betrayed. And if that is the case, the bond of Islam is removed from his neck, and he becomes accursed and outcast." Moreover, modesty and faith are intertwined; if one is lifted, the other is also lifted.
