The answer

It is prescribed to begin with the Basmalah in all surahs except Surat Bara'ah. The first in the is called Fatihat al-Kitab, Umm al-Kitab, As-Sab' al-Mathani, and Umm al-Qur'an. It has been authentically established to begin it with the Basmalah in a sound : "When you recite Fatihat al-Kitab, then recite 'Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,' for it is Umm al-Qur'an, Umm al-Kitab, and As-Sab' al-Mathani."
