What is the interpretation of the Hadith, "He is not of us who does not have mercy on our young and does not respect our elders?"

The aforementioned Hadith emphasizes the importance of gentleness and compassion towards the young, and showing respect to the elder. Whoever does not possess these qualities has contravened the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The meaning of (is not of us) is that he is not upon our way or is not like us in this characteristic, and it does not mean that he is a disbeliever.
