Is it obligatory to fulfill the parents' desire regarding a field of study, despite not wanting it?

Parents are naturally inclined to love what benefits their child and to strive for it. They also have extensive experience in life matters, and it is highly probable that their opinion is better for the son. Therefore, it is preferable for children to obey their parents in choosing a specialization. However, if the son dislikes the specialization his parents desire and finds studying it difficult, which could lead to his failure, then he is not sinful for disobeying his parents in this case and studying the specialization he desires. The son should strive wisely to convince his parents of his desire and explain to them the advantages of the field of study he wishes to pursue.
