What is the explanation of the Hadith: "If you love the adornment of Paradise, its silk, then do not wear it in this world," and is it specific to the wives of the Messenger or does it include all Muslim women?

The permissibility of wearing gold, silver, and silk for women is by the consensus of scholars. The hadiths that might suggest their prohibition can be interpreted as promoting asceticism and avoiding luxury, or as being abrogated, or as applying to those who do not pay zakat on them, or as applying to those who display their adornments before non-mahram men. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to prevent his family from wearing jewelry and silk, encouraging them towards the Hereafter and instilling disinterest in worldly life.
