What is the religious ruling on a son abandoning his father's house, when the father steals from his son, mocks him, and insults him, and what should the son do regarding society's view of him?

If the son is an adult of sound judgment and his leaving the home will not cause harm to his father, then he has the right to move out, because parents have no custody over an adult son. He must continue to honor his father, even if the father has done wrong, and the father should be gently advised to repent and restore rights. Disavowing the father's bad actions is permissible, but disavowing one's lineage is not permissible. No one is held accountable for the sin of another, as stated in His Almighty's saying: "And every soul earns not [anything] except for itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." Facing people with the truth is better than avoiding them, and the remembrance of Allah brings tranquility.
