Everything that happens in the universe is by Allah's decree, wisdom, and mercy towards His servants. Allah may send providential signs as a means of guidance or to prevent straying, such as Ibn Umar's dream, which motivated him to perform night prayers; the story of the boy in the People of the Ditch who was guided to the monk's religion; the story of the black woman who was accused of theft, then acquitted by a providential sign, leading her to embrace Islam; and the story of Salman al-Farisi's conversion to Islam. These signs include the miracles of the prophets and the wonders performed by the saints, which prompt guidance. Such signs are possible and real, but they are not a prerequisite for faith, and the primary path to guidance is divine revelation.
