What is the ruling on saying: "Al-Fatihah for the deceased"?

Donating the reward of reciting the Quran to the deceased is permissible according to the majority of scholars. However, specifically reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for this purpose, or believing it to be a Sunnah, is considered an innovation in religion. Every innovation is a bid'ah, and whoever introduces something into the religion that is not part of it, it is rejected.
