Is it permissible to inflate invoices for a daughter's educational expenses and the like to be paid by the father, in order to compensate the custodial mother for unpaid dues, and is it possible to save a portion of this expense for the daughter?

Scholars have differed on the obligation of providing housing for the custodian. The fatwa (ruling) is that if the woman has a residence, her child lives with her and no housing rent is obligatory. However, if she does not have a residence, then the child's father must house her for the duration of the custody.

Scholars also differed on the obligation of remuneration for the custodian: - The Hanafis: Custody remuneration is established for the custodian. - The Malikis: The custodian is not entitled to remuneration for custody. - The Shafi'is: Custody remuneration is established for the custodian, even the mother. - The Hanbalis: The custodian may request custody remuneration.

Educational expenses have details. If the amount the father pays is sufficient for the essential matters, it is not permissible to resort to stratagem against him to increase the amount. However, if the amount is insufficient, it is permissible to resort to stratagem only to the extent of the deficiency.
