ما هو المحراب، وما اسم الجزء من المسجد الذي يصلي فيه الإمام بالمأموم؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The scholars differed regarding the meaning of "mihrab." Some said it is a structure in which a worshipper isolates himself, and it was also applied to the concave niche in the wall of mosques. Others said it is a beautifully constructed place, like rooms, and the most honorable place in the prayer area. It was also said that it was named so because the Imam is not safe from error within it. The original term for the place where the Imam prays is "musalla al-imam" (the Imam's prayer area), as mentioned in the hadith of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him.
