It is not permissible to keep snakes unless there is a legitimate Shariah purpose, such as for scientific experiments. Keeping them is a frivolous act and a waste of money without benefit. We are commanded to kill them, both inside and outside the Haram, because they are among the harmful venomous creatures. An exception to this is what is found in houses, in which case it should be warned three times, and if it does not leave, it is then killed.
